Patient Referrals

What to expect from us:

Admission of your transferring patient will be prioritized in an attempt to minimize his/her wait time in our lobby. Life threatening and critically ill patients who enter our building after your patient may be treated sooner as per the discretion of our attending veterinarians.

  • Prior to sending any patients to the Pet+ER, please call our hospital and have your referring veterinarian speak to our doctor on duty. This allows us to best prepare you and your client for things such as wait times for procedures, availability for procedures, and cost of care.

  • We do not provide routine veterinary services such as vaccinations, heartworm medication, flea and tick preventative, or prescription food refills to your clients and patients.

  • We will call you if we have questions that pertain to your hospitalized patient(s). We strive to keep you involved by direct communication to ensure a smooth transition back to your hospital when you are available.

  • We will provide your client with home care instructions at the time of the patient’s discharge. A full copy of their medical record will be emailed to them if the client prefers.

  • When your client leaves our care, your office will receive a fax or email, based on your preference, with your patient’s medical record and diagnostic results. Please reach out to our hospital if you are not receiving these notifications or if you wish to update your preference.

See below for further instructions about referrals at both of our locations.
